Samantha is the 'girl next door' of Liriopes with her picture-pretty preen of green foliage and 'sweet-sixteen' pink blossoms that appear in late spring and early summer on an abundance of flower spikes. She's vigorous, content in both sun and shade , and features semi-evergreen (3/8 to 1/2 inch wide) bands of blade-like foliage that seem to wave as you pass by. This robust foliage forms a dense mat once established and is great for suppressing weeds . Ideal for rock gardens, borders and general landscaping, Samantha tolerates drought and prefers well-drained soil. When you place Samantha in your garden, you get a moderate growth rate and an earlier blossoming variety of Liriope that offers plump cotton-candy pink blooms making people feel like they've stepped inside a Monet. Things to Note Samantha would prefer a bit of shade in southern zones. If planting in zone 5 , be sure to check with your local extension to confirm winter hardiness in your area. Gardener Tips We recommend trying a mixture of Samantha and Monroe White for sequential blossoms. Samantha will arrive first with pleasant pink blossoms followed by Monroe White's classic, pearly white blooms. Monroe White will then offer berries giving this space color all season long.
